“How To Map A Successful Career and Business As A Coffee Roaster” is a seminar designed to inform and empower current and future roasters (and business owners of roasting companies) in the specifics of mapping a considered career path in todays coffee industry.
The mentors for this event are Lee Safar and Scott Rao.

About our mentors:
Scott Rao (@whereisscottrao) Scott Rao opened his first cafe and roastery in Massachusetts in 1994. Over his career, Scott has owned three cafes and two roasteries, and is currently starting roasting businesses in NYC and LA. In 2008, Scott wrote The Professional Barista's Handbook, the first technical, professional-level book about coffee preparation. With the success of the book, Scott got into consulting, and has spent the past six years traveling the world, consulting for hundreds of cafes and roasters of all sizes. Scott has written a few other books, including The Coffee Roaster's Companion, the first serious book about professional coffee roasting. In his career, Scott has roasted on approximately 250 machines and analyzed roast data from hundreds more; he likely has more diversity of roasting experience than anyone in the world. Scott invented the term of "development time ratio" and pioneered the idea of a steadily-declining rate of rise, among many other roasting concepts. (Read Scott's blog here)
Lee Safar (@leesafar) is a 15+ years specialty coffee barista from Sydney Australia, long time entrepreneur in the music and coffee industries, consultant and owner of 'Map It Forward' & 'Elixir Specialty Coffee'.
